Info about Alcohol
Alcohol poisoning
There is no party that doesn’t have at least a few drinks that contain alcohol but there are others that have only drinks that contain alcohol. These kinds of parties are usually full of people that are inebriated and there will be always a few people that just don’t know when to stop drinking. These people, besides the damage they do to their bodies, can even loose their consciousness, enter a coma or even succumb to alcohol poisoning.
Excessive alcohol abuse can be pretty annoying if you’re the one that is sober and have to take care of somebody that is drunk. Just imagine how much care you have to take of a friend that is drunk before all the alcohol in his system is worn out. He may vomit all over the place or even urinate on himself (or even on the floor), do all sorts of stupid stuff because of the euphoria he will get from the alcohol and if he has a temper when he’s drunk then he will start arguing with everybody on stupid reasons or even engage in physical attacks! Some people, especially students, have some myths about sobering up after being poisoned with alcohol. Some of these myths are walking until you’re sober, taking a cold shower, drinking black coffee or sleeping it off. None of these solutions are real and won’t work because when a person stops drinking it doesn’t mean that he or she won’t get even drunker. After ingesting a large amount of alcohol, it is not digested all at once. The alcohol in the stomach and the intestines that remains after the final drink is still processed over time and may get you drunker even if you stopped drinking. When you get alcohol poisoning your body will give a few specific signs that you are in danger like: you will be very confused and have difficulty standing up straight, slow breathing, irregular heartbeats and vomiting. People may even die in the most degrading way because of alcohol poisoning.
Because alcohol depresses the nerves that control involuntary actions like breathing and the gag reflex, you may choke and suffocate on your own vomit. Jimmy Hendrix, one of the greatest rock n’ roll guitar players of all time had this fate.
So if you want to go out and have a drink, think about all the bad things that can happen to you if you drink excessively. No one said that you can’t have a few drinks but try to remain sober enough to be able to control yourself and then you will be OK.
